We have a range of membership options to suit various needs; 2 classes per week, 3 classes per week or unlimited. At Melbourne Jiu-Jitsu Academy we understand that life is busy and circumstances can change. So we want to be as flexible as possible. If you’re heading off on holidays or need to take a break your membership can be frozen at any time (conditions apply), and we don’t have any lock in contracts. We only request that if you wish to terminate your membership you give us 30 days’ notice in writing.

I was born and raised in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. I’m a 1st degree black belt under professor Breno Angelo of Gracie Humaita Petropolis. I’m pumped to have opened Melbourne Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Prahran.
I was only 7 years old when I had my first experience with martial arts. I trained Judo with my brother, but soon lost interest. Later, I was introduced to Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a 14 year old but continued to float between different sports and martial arts. It wasn’t until around 17 years that I began to take my Jiu-Jitsu seriously.
At Melbourne Jiu-Jitsu academy our kids program focuses on making self-defence and physical education fun. We use conditioning and skill-oriented games to engage and challenge kids.
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu kids program is not just about the physical benefits for your child. It will also teach them valuable life skills such as confidence, courtesy, focus, discipline, team work, mental strength, and self-control.
Helio Gracie developed the principles of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. It gives the weaker the ability and the confidence to defeat stronger and heavier opponents. The discipline was advanced by his son Royler. Now, Ivan continues those teachings here in Melbourne. At Melbourne Jiu-Jitsu Academy you will learn the fundamentals of this martial art, often referred to as ‘The gentle art’.
